As part of the teaching school council’s widening support, we are pleased to announce that a number of experienced senior leaders, headteachers and SLEs have now been trained using the DfE national materials to carry out whole school audit reviews based on the following areas:
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
Pupil Premium and Disadvantage
Ofsted readiness (carried out by former HMI)
Administrative and back office processes and procedures
Reviews can be tailored to the needs of each school and can be carried out in half a day or a full day (or more), depending on the depth needed.
A successful model employed this year has been:
- Half a day preparation by the reviewer to look at any data, paperwork or current provision
- Half a day to a day depending on the depth of the review to visit the school and meet key personnel, (most successfully with the HT, DHT and chair of governors) and support the audit process with guided conversation and discussion, looking at next steps together;
- Half a day to write up the review to send to the school and head
An outline cost of a model similar to the above would be around £750 or £500 a day.
