Target Audience: teachers in KS1 and lower KS2 (particularly those in Y4 who are involved in the tables check this year), maths subject leaders
NEW this year, this half day course focuses on strategies and approaches to learning tables to enable all children to become fluent in the recall and application of tables facts.We will look strategies for achieving success with the new DfE multiplication check (which comes in for Year 4 children this year), and consider how to create and deliver a tables programme which prepares children in the run up to year 4 as well as during Year 4 itself.
This half day session will be delivered by Stewart McSmythurs and Jo Boulton, two of Bristol’s specialist leaders of education in maths who have both successfully implemented highly successful tables programmes in their own schools. They will explore ways for children can learn, build and embed tables knowledge using some practical ideas and successful strategies which can be taken back to school to share with classes and other teachers in your school.
