FREE Online termly networks for NQTs

In light of the current situation in schools, we are acutely aware that teachers new to the profession may have experienced a challenging time during their training with reduced contact in schools.  To respond to this, we are providing additional support this year in the form of free termly online facilitated networks each centred around a different theme, and led jointly by the LA and teaching school representatives, with special guest experts each term.   These will be taking place from 4.00 – 5.30 pm on the following dates:

  • Term 1: Tues 20th Oct – Focus: the roadmap for your NQT year
  • Term 2: Tues 15th Dec – EEF session – Feedback* plus NQT next steps
  • Term 3: Tues 9th Feb; – Focus – EAL – Catherine Brennan from Better Bilingual sharing good practice around EAL
  • Term 4: Tues 30th March; – EEF session – Developing independent learning skills* plus NQT next steps
  • Term 5: Tues 25th May – EEF session – Improving Learner memory*
  • Term 6: Tues 6th July – Completing your NQT year – next steps and moving into curriculum leadership

To book the termly NQT network sessions above please use the link below to register:

* please note – these sessions are linked to the Learning and Teaching series delivered by the EEF, with an additional half an hour at the end solely for NQTs from 5.00 – 5.30pm.  More details on the EEF sessions can be found here: https://bptsa.org/product/eef-learning-and-teaching-series.

Those booked on these 6 termly sessions will automatically be registered for the EEF sessions too and won’t need to book places separately via eventbrite.

The role of the statutory body:

Bristol Local Authority work collaboratively with us to fulfil the statutory role of Appropriate Body for NQT induction. Bristol LA ensure that all newly qualified teachers are registered with the DfE and that statutory requirements are met, providing support and guidance to schools and NQTs throughout the induction period.  You MUST register as an NQT with an ‘Appropriate Body’ to ensure all requirements are met.

To access the Trading with Schools (TwS) website, with the induction and registration paperwork and details of the support for school based NQT mentors and NQTs themselves, please visit: http://www.tradingwithschools.org/Article/21908
