About this programme:
This programme is designed for headteachers new in post this year in Bristol schools. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Bristol LA to support this year’s new headteacher induction programme. We have redesigned the programme in light of feedback from heads and have included sessions on governance, managing your own well-being, Ofsted and the new curriculum requirements, improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and 3 confidential coaching sessions which can be tailored to your needs. You will have the opportunity to form a small supportive network with other heads new in post in Bristol. You will be able to draw upon the expertise from other experienced heads and can be signposted to other services and ways of working through a supportive network of colleagues and Bristol professionals.
Outline of the programme:
3 x confidential and supportive one to one coaching sessions with an experienced leadership coach. Kris Hancock is an ex-head and Qualified ILM7 Executive Coach who works with a range of school leaders from middle leadership to Executive Headteachers locally, regionally and nationally.
Session 1: Monday 7th October 2019: Welcome lunch followed by headteacher wellbeing
A welcome lunch from 12.00pm- 1.00pm where you can meet key personnel from Bristol educational landscape in an informal setting, followed by an afternoon session on headteacher wellbeing by Jenny Mosley, the internationally renowned speaker and author of ‘Turn your School Around’ and the circle time approach (more information on this session can be found here: booking this programme also reserves you a place) https://bptsa.org/product/ht-wellbeing-jenny-mosley/
Session 2: Tuesday 26 November 2019: Developing and Maintaining Effective Governance
This session will be led by an experienced Bristol Headteacher and Local Leader of Education. Delegates will be given DfE Governance Review materials and have the opportunity to reflect on good practice models and how to work effectively with governing bodies, with a particular focus on the relationship between headteacher and the chair of governors
Session 3: Wednesday 22 January 2020: Reviewing your Curriculum and use of Pupil Premium
This session will be led by a Bristol Teaching & Learning Consultant and an experienced Bristol Headteacher. Delegates will be given DfE Pupil Premium Review materials and have the opportunity to reflect on good practice models of provision for disadvantaged groups tpo support improving provision and the raising of standards. The curriculum review session will focus on curriculum design with reference to Intent, Implementation and Impact and the new Ofsted framework.
