Supporting the recently qualified teacher (RQT)

Following the successful NQT programme, the SLE team are again offering on-going support to teachers moving into their second or third year, which presents new challenges. There is often less non-contact time and greater demands and subject leadership to take on. The RQT programme aims to bring teachers together to enable them to develop their practice and career as well as provide a support network across the city.

The sessions will all be run as twilights.

The sessions can be purchased as a whole programme i.e. all four sessions or on a 'pick and mix' basis.

Session 1: Twilight Monday 20th November 2017 4.15pm to 5.45pm
Focus: New class and new challenges: securing progression for all learners (including their teacher!)

Session 2: Twilight Monday 15th Jan 2018 4.15pm to 5.45pm
Focus: Subject leadership - taking on a leadership role for the first time - what do I need to do?

Session 3: Twilight Monday 5th March 2018 4.15pm to 5.45pm
Focus: Time management and prioritisation - how do I manage my increasing workload?

Session 4: Twilight Monday 30th April 2018 4.15pm to 5.45pm
Focus: Thinking beyond the classroom: developing your leadership role; career development; how to manage those difficult conversations
